We recently read a book called To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee at school. The book focused on the major issue of racism in America and the effect it had on the people at the receiving end.The book showed how the whole government system was racist and would not allow the non-whites to uplift.As a result they always remained in poverty.So as part of my research assignment I decided to conduct research on racism. My hypothesis was that even though racist policies have ended racism is still a major issue in the society .I broke my research down to 3 primary question. White supremacy was an idea that favored racism and started when the whites arrived in 1652 and declared their superiority by means of weapons. Though this act was followed for a long time but it came into full power in 1948 when the national party came into power and extended this policy of discrimination. They legalized this policy and named it Apartheid. As per the policy the whites were to stay away from the non-whites. They were to use separate public facilities, school standards and were required to carry special permission to go to restricted areas. In 1993 this policy came to an end in 1993 due to the efforts of Nelson Mandela and President F W de Kerf. Though these policies have ended but hate groups like the Ku Klux clan and Aryan Nations still believe in the c oncept of white supremacy and are willing to give up their life for this cause. Even though people know today that racism is a false ideology, employer still use racism to pay their employees less and make them work super hard. A study published on mic.com revealed that the GDP per capita for whites was 13,260 and for non-whites is 11,908. Which means non-whites are consistently paid less than whites. This causes non-whites to remain in a state of poverty and restrains their capabilities.
